I grew up in Northern NSW. I have a cheeky pet dog called Roger. I come from a large family, with 11 nephews and nieces, and they are most important to me. I also love watching sport, playing netball and doing yoga. I enjoy learning about human behaviour, ways to enhance wellness and yoga.
I commenced work in disabilities and mental health in 2006. I'm an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker and member of Australian Association of Social Work (AASW). I am a provider of the following services: NDIS, Medicare, Healthy Minds support (headspace), DVA and WorkCover.
My credentials: Masters in Social Work, Bachelor of Psychological Science, Certificate four in Mental Health, Certificate three in Community Services- Aged Care and Disabilities, Circle of Security Parenting Program Facilitator.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy: Gaining good skills and understanding of mindfulness, thoughts, feelings, behaviour and our environment.
Psycho-education: About the interactions between body, brain, mind, behaviour, environment & social relationships. Understanding how to stay healthy and well.
Interpersonal Therapy: Helps people address current concerns, improve communication and understand how to have healthier relationships with others.
Relaxation strategies: Understanding how progressive muscle relaxation and controlled breathing can help the body andmind to be well.
Skills training: Learning problem-solving, emotional regulation, distress tolerance, social skills, assertive communication and stress management skills.
Mindful Self-Compassion and Acceptance Commitment Therapy: Supporting people to accept what they cannot change, to focus on changing what they can change, lessen the struggle with unhelpful thoughts & feelings and match their behaviour to their values. Be kind to themselves, be mindful and understand common humanity.
The Circle of Security® Parenting™ program: We help parents and caregivers to: Understand their child’s emotional world by learning to read emotional needs; Support their child’s ability to successfully manage emotions; Enhance the development of their child's self esteem; Honour inner desires for their children to be secure.
Family/carer support: Circle of Security parenting program and mindful self-compassion workshops for formal and informal carers, family education.
